Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice

Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.

Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.

The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a unique setup.

His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.

The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.

The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the high-speed corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.

The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.

Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
